SKIPnROPE is an Irish owned company providing skipping workshops to schools in Ireland. The aim is to introduce children and teachers to the world of skipping. Skipping is a terrific form of exercise that helps a child’s agility, balance, hand-eye co-ordination and can increase speed through footwork. It teaches children about rhythm and when put into team routines, it provides them with team work skills and encourages them to have confidence in their sporting ability. It is a great way to exercise, maintain good health while having lots of fun. The workshop is a great initiative to help gain the Active School Flag Award or as part of Active Week.
In the SKIPnROPE workshops, I provide the use of skipping ropes to the children for each session on the day. Pupils will learn a host of footwork skills, beginner to intermediate skipping tricks, long rope games and partner skipping. For schools that have already learned the basics of skipping, I aim to challenge them with new routines, tricks, along with developing teamwork skills like partner skipping, long rope and team games.
I will teach every class in the school for approximately 30-40mins depending on the number of classes in the school. Once all the workshops have taken place, the pupils provide a demonstration of the skips learnt throughout the day. During the sessions, I will be picking children to perform in front of the school. The demonstration is 30-40 minutes long; it gives the pupils the chance to see the skills other classes have learnt. I feel it is important for the children to see other pupils performing these tricks so they can learn from each other out on the yard at lunch time or at home.
The minimum cost for a workshop is €275 (For schools between 0-90 pupils). The prices of the workshops are then determined by the number of pupils taking part in your school.
The price list is as follows….
0-90 Children- €275
91-120 Children- €3 per Child
121-174 Children- €2.50 per Child
175+ Children- €2 per Child

SKIPnROPE provides the children with the opportunity to learn a skill which they can apply to a wide variety of sporting activities. The many benefits of being exposed to this type of movement can be seen in one lesson. Coach Mark McCabe delivers his lessons in a very professional manner, pitching and pacing them excellently relative to each class level. I would definitely recommend having SKIPnROPE visit your school over the course of the year.

We’ve had Mark on 3 occasions for skipping workshops in St. Senan’s P.S. Mark pitches his workshop at the most suitable level for the children and he develops a great rapport with them. Mark’s enthusiasm creates a great atmosphere and the children respond accordingly. Mark has brought different aspects to his workshop on each occasion bringing new challenges and keeping it fresh. To quote one of our pupils “He’s quare good at skipping”

Tháinig Mark chuig ár scoil le déanaí lena cheardlann SKIPnROPE iontach scipeála. Bhí Marc go hiontach leis na paistí. Chuir sé leiriú spraoíúil agus gníomhaitheach ar siúil do agus leis na bpáistí, rud a bhain siad ar fad ana- thaitneamh as. Tá clós na scoile athraithe go hiomlán ó déanadh a cheardlann scipeála, é plódaithe le daoine ag scipeáil. Tá siad chomh tógtha leis an scipeáil. Molaim go mór Marc é féin, a chuid oibre agus a cheardlann scipeála agus cinnte béimid ag cur fios air arís an bhliain seo chugainn.

The SKIPnROPE workshops were a huge success in our school. 6 weeks on and the yard is still gripped with skipping fever, even before school starts. It has really brought on the pupils’ co-ordination and determination to get it right. I think nearly every child in the school ordered a speed rope from Mark. Many parents have also thanked us for bringing lovely childhood memories back. Thanks Mark for your innovation and great delivery of the skill.
