COACH MARK MC CABE

SKIPnROPE provides skipping workshops to schools throughout Ireland. The benefits children can get from skipping is second to none. Skipping is a terrific form of exercise that helps a child’s agility, balance, hand-eye co-ordination. It teaches children about rhythm. When put into team routines it provides them with team work skills and encourages them to have confidence in their sporting ability. It's a great way to keep fit, as it is an intense cardiovascular exercise which helps to maintain good health reduce your risk of disease and it’s lots of fun!

Here's a little bit about us.

Mark Mc Cabe is our Founder and Head Coach. He has been teaching skipping workshops for the last 7 years. In that time, he has visited over 850 primary schools around Ireland. Mark has always had a love for sport, playing numerous forms over the years from Gaelic and Hurling to Soccer, Swimming and Tennis. If he's not playing sport, he can be found coaching children in his local GAA club or in Cúl Camps during my Summer and Easter holidays. He has been coaching in GAA Cúl Camps for 15 years.

Mark has an Honours Degree in Community Sports Leadership. This course allowed him to develop my natural sporting ability but also gave him a great insight into coaching across other sports like badminton, athletics and basketball to name but a few. The Honours Degree course also delved into the anatomy and physiology side of sport giving me a greater understanding of the human body and how it works.

In March 2011, Mark was introduced to skipping via his former primary school Principal. He was immediately taken aback by the skill level of the children as they performed in a skipping demonstration. His passion for skipping had begun.

He completed a Level 2 Skipping Course through the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) in Great Britain, he could easily perform basic, partner and long rope skipping but this course gave him a thirst for more. He began to develop his skipping skills through outlets such as Youtube, online blogs and Skipping Skills DVDs. These were a great source of learning for the harder more intricate tricks that a person can accomplish when they reach an advanced stage in their skipping potential. His love for skipping grows from strength to strength, he can often be found perfecting his freestyle techniques and tricks.
